Understanding AI Credits & Limits

Every AI action in Lega — generating a layout, regenerating a style, running Perfect-It, generating a sticker — draws from a monthly usage budget tied to your plan. This page explains how that budget works.

What counts as a generation

Each of the following is tracked as a distinct AI usage event:

• Layout generation — turning a prompt into a new frame composition. See AI Layout Generation.
• Style generation — regenerating color, typography, and treatment on an existing layout. See AI Style Generation.
• Perfect-It passes — the one-click polish step, tracked separately with its own monthly allowance depending on plan tier.
• Sticker generation — each generated sticker image. See Sticker Generation.
• Recreate — rebuilding a layout from an uploaded reference image.

Manual edits — moving layers, retyping text, adjusting colors by hand, exporting — never consume AI usage. Only actions that call the AI do. This means you can iterate freely on a generated draft with manual tweaks without worrying about burning through your budget; the budget is specifically for asking the AI to do work, not for editing afterward.

How the monthly budget works

Your AI usage is tracked against a monthly allowance that resets automatically at the start of each billing month — there's no manual reset needed, and unused allowance from one month doesn't roll over into the next. Different plan tiers come with different monthly allowances, and some AI actions (like Perfect-It) may have their own sub-limit separate from the general generation count, reflecting that they're a distinct, heavier operation.

You can see your current usage and remaining allowance from within the editor at any time, so there's no need to guess how close you are to a limit mid-session.

Credit coupons

Lega supports credit coupons that add to your effective monthly budget — useful for promotions, one-off top-ups, or support-issued grants. Coupon credits stack on top of your plan's base allowance and are consumed before or alongside it, extending what you have available for that month without changing your underlying plan.

What happens when you hit your limit

If you reach your monthly AI usage limit, AI-driven actions (layout generation, style generation, Perfect-It, stickers, recreate) become unavailable until your budget resets or you add more, but everything else in the editor keeps working — you can still open, edit, and export existing designs freely. Nothing you've already generated is at risk or locked; the limit only affects new AI calls.

Why usage-based limits, not per-design pricing

Lega tracks AI usage at the account level rather than charging per design, so a project that needs five quick regenerations to get right doesn't cost more than one that nails the layout on the first try — you're budgeting for a month of iteration, not paying per attempt. That's a deliberate choice: the AI is meant to be something you iterate with freely within your plan, not something you ration call-by-call.
